The stop happened on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 12:10 a.m. in Jericho, The Nassau County Police said.
According to police, while on routine patrol, officers observed Jose Simon Cuzco Remache, 28, of Brooklyn, operating a 2017 Dodge Caravan.
The vehicle was traveling northbound on North Broadway and was following another vehicle too closely while failing to maintain a lane repeatedly, police said.
The officers engaged their emergency lights and sirens and initiated a stop near Bella Sonia Court and Route 106. During the investigation, it was discovered that Ramache had bloodshot, glassy eyes and there was a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle, said pole.
Ramache was placed under arrest without incident. Ramache’s two children, ages 5 and 7, and four other adults were in the vehicle, one of whom was the children’s mother. The children were released to the mother at scene. No injuries were reported.
Remache was charged with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated (child under 16 – Leandra’s Law), two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of driving while intoxicated and numerous VTL Infractions.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday, Oct.12 at First District Court in Hempstead.
